Fire Department Equipment
The Fire Department maintains a large fleet of equipment to assist with firefighting and rescue situations.
Ladder 202
Our aerial ladder truck is housed at Station 202 and is a 2001 American LaFrance Aerial truck. This truck is used at larger structure fires such as apartments, multi-floor and commercial buildings. The nozzle on the ladder can be manned or operated by remote control. Ladder can be used for egress for fire fighters and occupants. The nozzle can be extended to the ladder tip for elevated streams or hose lines for fire attack.
Engine 201
This engine is a 1999 Hub Engineered Triple Combination Pumper, American Lafrance Cab, Freightliner Chassis is the first-out pumper. It is located at Station 201. The engine has a 1500 LaFrance, (Hale) two stage pump with a 600 gallon water tank with an an Akron Class "A" (10 gallon) and "B" (40 gallon) foam system.
Engine 202
This engine is a 2005 Hub Engineered Triple Combination CAFS Pumper, Amberican LaFrance Eagle 134/Freightline Chassis. It is located at Station 202. The engine has a Hale Q-Max, single stage, 1500 lgpm, 600 Imperial gallon polypropylene water tank with a Hale CAFSPro, Pneumax PTO-Driven Compressor, 20 gallon class "A" and 30 gallon class "B" foam.
Engine 203
This engine is a 1991 Anderson Engineered Triple Combination Pumper and is the second-out pumper. It is located at Station 201. The engine carries 1200 gallons of water and is extremely useful at fires where there is an inadequate water supply.
Water Tender 201
This 2009 Hub Engineered water tender with a International 7600 SFA 6X4 Cab and Chassis with a 750 Hale Q-PAK two stage pump and a 2500 IMP copoly water tank. The Water Tender is mainly used for fighting grass fires and small structure fires in remote regions of our community. It is kept at Station 201.
Rescue 202
Rescue 202 is a 2003 Ford F550 Pro-Fire Rescue Truck and is the first-out rescue truck at Station 202. It goes to all First Responder calls within Penticton and is also sent to all regional rescue calls such as motor vehichle accidents where extrication is required. Rescue 202 carries auto extrication equipment such as Jaws of Life, rams and cutters.
Marine Rescue 201
The Zodiac is used for all marine rescues and searches. It can be on the road in minutes as it is kept on a trailer at Station 202. It is used on both Okanagan and Skaha Lakes.
Truck B202
Truck B202 is a 2000 Ford F250 XL Super Duty extended cab 4 wheel drive. It is our tow vehichle for the Zodiac and is also equipped for fighting small grass fires.
Command C201
Command C201, a 2003 Ford Expedition 4WD, is the staff vehicle for the Deputy Fire Chief. It is equipped with radios, back-up inverters for recharging radio batteries and is used in the staging area at large fires
Command C202
Command C202, a 2006 Ford Explorer 4X4, is the Fire Chief's vehicle.It is equipped with radios, back up inverters for recharging radio batteries and is used in the staging area at large fires.
Truck B201
Truck B201, a 1989 Chevrolet, Cheyenne 2500 4X4, is an extended cab pick-up with a custom made Brutus flat deck. It is equiped for fighting grass fires and other fires in the urban/interface areas of our community. It has a poly water tank, portable pumps and forestry fire fighting equipment. Water can be pumped directly from the water tank or from a water supply such as a swimming pool or lake.
Pub Ed I201
Pub Ed I201, a 1998 GMC, Safari, 8 passenger van, is affectionately called the Sparky Van. It is decorated with Sparky the Fire Dog and fire safety messages such as Stop, Drop & Roll, Smoke Alarms Save Lives and Practice Your Fire Escape Plan.This vehicle is used at many fire prevention programs throughout Penticton and is very effective in helping to promote fire and life safety awareness. Children smile and wave when they see the Sparky Van!
In 2001 the van was sponsored by The Downtown Rotary Club, Knights of Pythias and Partners Program F.C.A.B.C.
