About IRONMAN Canada in Penticton

In 1983, the first North American IRONMAN was born – right here in Penticton – and that race changed the IRONMAN triathlon community forever. Penticton is now known as one of the world’s premier triathlon host communities – and a bucket list destination for IRONMAN athletes all over the world.

The iconic event returned to Penticton in 2022, following the traditional single-loop course with a 3.8-kilometre swim in Okanagan Lake, a 180-km bike ride through Osoyoos and Keremeos, followed by a 42.2-km run to finish along Lakeshore Drive in downtown Penticton.

IRONMAN Canada mural

The City in 2022 unveiled an IRONMAN Canada outdoor mural near Okanagan Lake, created by Jomae Arts. The artwork is now displayed on the west wall of the building at 185 Lakeshore Drive, which faces the triathlon event’s historic swim start.
