Lost & Found Pets

• Contact the SPCA at 250-493-0136. Give them a description and recent photo.
• If you have evidence that your dog was stolen, contact the RCMP at 250-492-4300 for investigation.
• Search the neighbourhood – bring along their favourite toy or treat.
• Talk to your neighbours – leave them your phone number so if they spot your dog or cat, they can call you.
• Post an image of your pet on social media or put up posters in your neighbourhood with the animal's name, breed, description, special markings, picture, area last seen and your contact information.
• If your cat is missing, we recommend that you leave some items outside your home that have familiar smells, such as their litter box, blanket or scratch post.
• Don’t lose hope. Many animals are safely returned to their families, especially if they are wearing a tag, have a microchip or a tattoo.

If you have found a dog, please be cautious. Dogs may behave aggressively when they are scared and surrounded by unfamiliar people and smells. Not all dogs are good with other dogs, cats or children so we recommend that you do not introduce them to your pets or children.

Please contact us when you find a lost or stray dog and we will do our best to reunite them with their family. We also post pictures of the pets to our Facebook page.

If you have found a cat and believe it is a stray, please contact the BC SPCA  at 250-493-0136, Critteraid at 250-488- 3226 and our office at 250-492-3801 to see if the cat has been reported missing.

If you decide to bring the cat into your home, create a quiet area (bathroom or spare room), and do not introduce them to your pets or children until they have had a chance to settle in and are feeling safe and comfortable.
