Seniors' Centre residents: Interior Health has a dedicated call centre for families seeking updates on evacuated residents from Dr. Andrew Pavillion and Summerland Seniors Village. Families can call 1-833-971-5045. Read their announcement here. 

Other individuals: Please fill out this form so it can be logged and forwarded to the Emergency Services Support Program (ESSP) for review. Due to the high volume of requests currently being processed, response times may be longer than usual. We appreciate your patience during this time.

If your loved one is located, ESSP staff will advise them that you have reached out and are seeking to make contact.
Please note that if we are unable to locate the individual, no further updates will be provided regarding this submission. We kindly ask that you do not contact the City or ESSP for status updates, as staff are focused on processing requests and supporting those affected.

Fill out the Bald Range Wildfire: Missing Person Inquiry Form

• Highway 97 is now open to through traffic only and speed limits have been reduced to 70 km/h
• The Highway will be open to public traffic from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm each day to allow crews access to continue work overnight.
• If the situation changes, the highway may be closed again with limited notice. Be prepared.
• Do not rely on Google Maps, which may lead you into the fire boundaries.

Due to regional wildfire activity, some flights may be cancelled or delayed. Travellers are strongly encouraged to check directly with their airline before heading to the airport.

How to Register Online 

Registration is available in-person at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre (PTCC). However, you can also speed up the process by registering online through these steps: 

Step 1: Contact Your Insurance (if applicable)
If you have insurance, contact your insurance provider. Most home and tenant’s insurance providers cover living expenses during evacuations.

Step 2: Log In or Create your BC Services Card Account
To register online, you will need to login to your BC Services Card Account. 
If you need to set up a BC Services Card Account, you will need your BC Services Card information. Register for an account at: https://id.gov.bc.ca/account/setup-instruction 

Step 3: Create a profile for Emergency Support Services with the Evacuee Registration and Assistance (ERA) tool.
Go to https://era-evacuees.embc.gov.bc.ca/registration-method to log in with your BC services Card Account and create a profile.

Step 4: Access support online or by phone.
Once you have created a profile, you will receive instructions by email or phone on how to receive supports, if eligible. You may also access support in-person at a reception centre.

Need supplies for yourself, your pets or your family? 

• Supplies: Evacuees are invited to visit the emergency distribution centre during operating hours, with no appointment required, to access essential items and receive information about additional community resources and supports.
  • Location: Okanagan College, 583 Duncan Ave. West, Penticton
  • Hours: 9am – 3:30pm daily
  • Please do not park in the fire lane or directly in front of the building. Parking is free in designated areas. Their online site is: oneskycommunity.com/wildfire-response 
• Food hampers: Bethel Church, at 945 Main Street, Penticton, is offering food hampers for pickup between 9am and 3:30pm. Please go to the side door. No registration is
  required.
• Clothing and other items: The Salvation Army is providing clothing, bedding, towels and hygiene kits, with food bank access. Visit 2399 South Main Street Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. 
• Drinking water: A map of water refill stations located throughout Penticton is available here.  
• Food Supports for Evacuees: Food Service at the Reception Centre (325 Power Street) will conclude following dinner service on Saturday, August 15. Additional food supports continues to be available for Bald Range Wildfire evacuees at other locations: 
   
  • Penticton Sikh Temple (3290 South Main Street): Hot, ready-to-eat meals (Langar) are available for anyone impacted or displaced by the fires. If you are unable to come to the temple in person, please don't hesitate to reach out to us by call or text, and they will deliver a hot meal directly to you: (250) 487-0663. 
     
  • JCI Penticton
    Food supports available 24 hours a day. 
    Location: Outside Penticton Community Centre at 325 Power Street, Penticton, BC. 
    What You Can Find: pancake breakfasts in the mornings and some hot dogs throughout the day. We have water, Gatorade, pop, granola bars, and other packaged snacks as long as we have them. We will continue accepting those items as donations. 
     
  • Buffet at Cascades Casino 
    Time: Daily 10am-10pm. 
    Location: Enter into Cascades Casino and continue the hallway to the right! It is kid friendly and they have movies playing all day! 

Summerland website connecting evacuees with support

• helpsummerland.ca  is a volunteer-organized community board for connecting people in need (shelter, food, supplies).

The Comfort Centre is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Princess Margaret Secondary School, providing a safe place to rest, recharge and access amenities like food, water, and a place charge devices. It also offers daytime and overnight parking options.

The following additional locations are available for residents requiring parking for trucks, RVs and trailers:

• Penticton Secondary School Parking Lot (158 Eckhart Ave E.) 
• Wholesale Club, 200 Carmi Ave.
• Penticton Seventh-day Adventist Church, 290 Warren Ave. W.
• King's Park, 550 Eckhardt Ave. W., with 24-hour washroom access and water refill stations. 
• Skaha Lake Park, 3661 Parkview St., with 24-hour washroom access, water refill stations and a leash-optional dog area. 
• Cherry Lane Shopping Centre (2111 Main Street) 
  Oversized parking for trucks and trailer/campers is available at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre in the area indicated in the map below

RV Sanitary Disposal and Potable Water Services

Midtown RV is assisting evacuees by providing access to RV sanitary disposal and potable water services for those displaced by the wildfire.

310 Industrial Avenue West, Penticton

Services Available:
•    RV sanitary waste disposal
•    Potable water fill station
•    Pull-through access for RVs of all sizes

Hours of Operation:
•    Sunday, August 9: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
•    Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The City extends its sincere appreciation to Midtown RV for supporting residents impacted by the current evacuations.

• The Comfort Centre at Princess Margaret Secondary (120 Green Ave. W.) is open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., providing washrooms including showers, device charging stations, indoor spaces to rest, light snacks and parking space to stay overnight. 
• The Penticton Community Centre is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. providing free showers, washrooms and a kids' play zone. 
• The SOEC walking track is open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This is an indoor walking loop within the South Okanagan Events Centre.
• The YMCA is providing an open gym and classes from Aug. 12-21 (9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.) at 225 Kinney Ave, Penticton. Free entry. 
  • For ages 9-14: 
    • 10:30-12:30 = basketball
    • 1-3 p.m. = volleyball
    • 3:30-5:30 p.m. = hockey
  • For ages 15+: 
    • 9:30-10:30 a.m. = mat yoga 
    • 10:30 a.m. = strength

Water Refill Stations

A map of water refill stations located throughout Penticton is available here.  The City's Quench Buggy is located at Penticton Secondary (158 Eckhardt Avenue E) for anyone parked requiring drinking water. 

Please contact your insurance provider as soon as possible to start the claims process if you have been evacuated from your residence. 

As an added support, Insurance Bureau of Canada representatives and insurers will be on-site at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, 273 Power Street., daily starting Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 9 a.m. and will remain on-site each day until the end of the week. Alternatively, you can call the Insurance Bureau of Canada at 1 (844) 227-5422. 

• ALERT is on-site at the ESS Reception Centre and is providing animal care services. For assistance, call 250-490-6531 or 250-328-4748.
• If you have livestock, agricultural operations, or a large number of animals requiring assistance, contact the RDOS Call Centre at 250-490-4225. They have resources on site to help you with this process.

Please note that donations are not being accepted at the ESS Reception Centre at this time, as food and essential services are being provided. 

Emergency donations may be dropped off at 583 Duncan Avenue from 9am-3:30pm.  The items most-needed continues to change so everyone wishing to donate is encouraged to visit the online site: oneskycommunity.com/wildfire-response 

If you would like to donate food (non-perishable, not expired items ONLY), you can visit Bethel Church, located at 945 Main Street, Penticton between 9am and 3:30pm. Please come to the side door. You can also call 250-493-3911 for more information.  

The Community Foundation of Okanagan-Similkameen is accepting financial donations for those affected by the fires. 

The Salvation Army in Penticton (2469 South Main Street) is also accepting clothing and bedding donations. 

St. Ann's Parish, 1296 Main St, in Penticton, across from Safeway, is accepting donations of non-perishable food such as snacks. Also bedding, toiletries, water and good used clothing.

Here are some tips for how to build your emergency grab and go kit. 
The kit should include the following:

•    Enough water for three days
•    Food that won’t spoil such as canned goods, dried foods
•    Manual can opener
•    Flashlight
•    Batteries
•    Battery-powered radio
•    Candles / matches
•    First Aid kit
•    Medications 
•    Whistle (to attract attention, if required)
•    Extra keys for your house and vehicle (fully fuelled)
•    Change of clothing
•    Blankets
•    Toilet paper
•    Cash in small bills, credit cards
•    List of key contacts
•    Face masks
•    Personal hygiene items
•    Paper, pencil or pen
•    Copies of important documents (birth certificates, passports, etc.)
•    Charger for cellphones, laptop, etc.
•    Pet food and bowls (if required)
•    Extra eyeglasses or contact lenses / contact lens solution (if required) 
•    Infant formula, bottles, diapers, wipes, etc. (if required)

Items to take if time allows:
