Quick tip for ordering takeout: There are now eight locations throughout downtown Penticton where you can park – for free – to pick up your order.
It’s all part of the Picnic-ton program, encouraging takeout orders from local businesses throughout the community. When placing your order, be sure to mention the program, because some businesses still have free picnic packs or Picnic-ton items to hand out to customers.
To find out which businesses are taking part, and to see where the temporary free parking spots are located, view the interactive Picnic-ton map.
The map identifies:
- Participating food and beverage businesses.
- Nearby parks and amenities including washrooms, splash pads or playgrounds.
- Number of picnic benches at each location.
- Designated zoned areas where you can drink alcohol openly (until Oct. 15).
- Where the free 10-minute parking spots are located downtown to pick up your takeout orders.
Note that the designated curbside pick-up parking stalls are for 10 minutes only, to encourage fast turnover. Also, while the free parking is offered downtown, the Picnic-ton program is available throughout Penticton.
