The season of giving starts now as temperatures drop

Tag(s): Love Local

With temperatures starting to dip, this may be a good time to rummage through your closets for warm items to donate to those in need throughout our community.

Penticton and District Society for Community Living, which provides support and services for people with intellectual disabilities, seniors and low-income adults and families, has put a callout on behalf of the Victory Church Shelter seeking donations of winter clothing items.

They’re requesting the following:
  • Gloves
  • Toques
  • Socks
  • Coats
  • Blankets
  • Hand warmers

Donations may be dropped off at Victory Church Shelter, 352 Winnipeg St.

Santa to a Senior

Both Starbucks locations in Penticton are collecting gifts for seniors throughout the community. Simply drop off a new, unwrapped gift before Dec. 15 (look for the wrapped gift drop-off boxes at each location) and they'll deliver it to a local senior in need. Need gift ideas? They suggest socks, hard candies, crossword puzzles, gloves, sudoku books, hand lotion, chocolates, cookies, scarves, hats, jigsaw puzzles, games, blankets, slippers or toiletries.
