Penticton shows outpouring of support amid wildfires

Tag(s): Love Local

Penticton has been showing an outpouring of community spirit amidst the ongoing threat of wildfires. Some have been dropping off food and supplies for firefighters. Many have offered their homes to evacuees. Others are checking in on neighbours to make sure they’re ready to leave if needed.

Together, we’re strong.  And let’s show the world how we’re working together. Share these positive stories and images over social media using #lovelocalpenticton.

This is also a great opportunity to remind citizens to look out for those around you – especially seniors, the disabled and those who are hard of hearing.

“Penticton, please be prepared. Please stay safe and please look out for your neighbours. We must work together,” Penticton Mayor John Vassilaki said during today’s media conference (Friday, Aug. 21).

And let’s not forget our pets. Prepare to take your pets from your home using a kennel or on a leash. Pet owners and hobby farmers with concerns for their animals should contact Animal Emergency Response Team (ALERT) at 250-809-7152.
