Work throughout the area will be completed in rolling phases through Oct. 9, with every effort made to minimize disruptions. The project is focused solely on improving road surfaces, with no changes to traffic patterns, parking or roadway design.

During construction, travellers can expect lane reductions and minor detours as paving progresses through the project area. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained wherever possible.

Paving will also be conducted in October on the Ellis Street roundabout, with a temporary detour required. 

City crews have hand-delivered notices to affected properties along the route.

The City is constructing a multi-use pathway along Ontario Street and Forestbrook Drive with curb and lighting. 

Work will improve connections for people walking, cycling and rolling while enhancing accessibility in the neighbourhood. This pathway will connect from Eckhardt Avenue to the existing pathway that runs along Penticton Creek. The project will also include paving improvements on Forestbrook Drive and naturalization work along the creek. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of September 2026. 

As part of the project, the undeveloped area adjacent to Penticton Creek that has been used informally for parking will be converted to naturalized parkland. Once construction is complete, on-street parking on Ontario Street and Forestbrook Drive will continue to be permitted where allowed.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Extended hours may occur within permitted times (up to 10 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends)
